A Summer to Remember

What an amazing summer it’s been! Be the Best You Camp came and went; what a week to remember! We started the week all getting to know one another and each day flew by as we helped with incredible service projects, made new friends, heard from amazing speakers, and let’s not forget the amazing food!

Monday was the opening ceremony and it was a blast! We got to see what the week would be like and got pumped up for our activities! We jumped right into our first service activity with our Boys and Girls Club service opportunity which was a hit! We also made tie blankets for Primary Children’s hospital to help the children who are there to feel loved. We ended the evening with Battle of the Bands and The Five Strings!

Tuesday was our special needs activity! Each young woman that attended our Special Needs Princess Party absolutely loved it! From making princess party hats, fishing in the moat, and decorating cookies, it was a royal event to remember. Elaine Dalton spoke to us and she knew exactly what to say to help each of us feel loved. Finishing the day with a movie that included our camp theme “Magic and Miracles” was a special treat!

Wednesday began with our talent show, it was “magical!” The talent each of you shared with us was so unique! Dancing, singing, playing instruments, and the support from the girls was wonderful! We heard from amazing speakers, Hank Smith and Cambry Taylor and each of them helped us remember who we are, and the role we each have to play in our daily lives. Ending the night with a fantastic Prom with great music and dancing, to our Disney themed Girls Night Out was a blast as well!

Thursday held many special opportunities as well. Hearing from Justin Osmond and learning how to overcome obstacles in our lives was a great way to start our day! We left soon after to go to care centers and visit the elderly! We had the opportunity to listen, love, and serve the elderly by listening to their stories, interviewing them, singing songs, and even crowned some of them a king and a queen for the day! Serving others helped prepare our hearts for the balloon release we held in remembrance of a wonderful man who each of us will always remember. Dan Beck was then able to perform and speak to our hearts with the power of music. Ending our day with a Reflection Meeting helped us to keep our hearts in tune with what is most important in our lives.

Friday came and we heard from the amazing Jeff Griffin! His motivational story reminded us that we can truly do anything we set our minds to. Dining etiquette and Princess Academy were so fun as we learned how to be elegant while we dine and how we present ourselves to others. Sean Covey then spoke to us sharing how to have good habits and succeed in life! The week flew by and the night finished with our closing ceremony.

Saturday morning included the special opportunity for each camper to sing beautiful songs while each of them held a candle and reminded us to “share the light” within with others around us, always. What an incredible week it was!

As summer comes to a close, our opportunities at camp don’t have to! We can continue to serve others, be our best selves, and share the light within wherever we are. We must always remember to be Be There Girls, striving to lead and be good examples in all we say and do! Also, don’t forget to be on the lookout for our Be There Girls Service Leadership Academy launching next month! We can’t wait to begin this new adventure with you! We love you all and thank you for all each of you do in your communities and daily lives.
